Infinitives Adjectives:
Infinitive can be used to qualify an adjective:
The construction with infinitive as subject is rather formal and often awkward. To avoid this awkwardness, introductory It is generally used as the subject. The basic pattern is :
It + be + adjective + to infinitive
The same pattern may be used with a noun.
All the above statements are general ones. If we want to restrict them to a specific person or persons, we use ( for + person) between the adjective/noun and the infinitive.
The adjectives kind, good, brave, stupid, foolish, thoughtful, thoughtless, cruel, wrong, courageous, mean etc. express some moral or intellectual quality. With these words/phrases, "of" is used and not "for"
